Standard vs Starter Pricing

Do the prices of the standard pricing plan apply after what’s offered for free in the starter plan?

With write units (WU) for example. If I’m on the standard plan, do I first get 2M free WU per month and then pay the $4/M thereafter? And so on for the read units, storage etc.

OR, am I also paying $4/M WU for the first 2M WU that would’ve otherwise been free in the starter plan?

Hi,

Your latter case is correct. When you upgrade to standard, you start paying for usage on all your indexes, even if they were free before. So you’d get charged $4/M write units right away, and you no longer have access to the free 2M WUs. This is the same for storage and read units, too.

This is because when you upgrade, a number of new features are unlocked, including increased namespace limits and access to soon to be released serverless backups, which are in public preview.
