When you first click on an index it has a “Search by Text” option but once you select any other option the “Search by Text” option is no longer available - see screenshot.
Hi @pasha.bitz thanks for writing in. Unfortunately I’m not able to reproduce this. Is it possible you are using looking at two different indexes? “search by text” is only available for an index that is configured to use one of our integrated inference models so that it can translate the text to vectors on your behalf. For indexes without this configuration, you only have the options that you’re showing in your screenshot.
If you’re still seeing this unexpected behavior, could you widen the view of your screenshot so we can see the index configuration? Or perhaps open a support ticket so we can look into it more deeply with you.

This looks like a UI issue.
The option “Search by Text” appears at first, and then disappears from the very same index, as soon as another option is selected.
I also filed a support ticket as you requested.
Thank you @pasha.bitz, it was very helpful for you to file a support ticket since we were able to reproduce this issue with a sparse index (as opposed to me initially testing with a dense one). We’re getting a fix out asap, the current workaround is just to refresh the page since we default to “Search by text” on page load (and then it currently disappears afterwards as you’ve pointed out!)
