Assistants Hourly Count cost

Got a bill of $21 for 2526 qty of Assistants Hourly Count.

I used two assistants for 2 hours in the Playground then left them there for a month. Is the “Assistants Hourly Count” also including inactive hours? Seems very weird to me, openAI only count active hours I’m pretty sure of. With this kind of system one will have to constantly create and delete assistants…

I have a similar question and was surprised to see the charges. Is there any way to adjust the “available” hours that an assistant is active and counting towards this cost? I could easily limit my assistant to business hours to reduce these costs in half, but I can’t see any way of doing this. If the assistant is active 24/7 with no way of reducing the hours, why isn’t it just a constant and advertised cost?

:waving_hand:hi @kyleheney, just checked with the team internally.

First off, thanks for asking. Your questions will also be relevant to other community members.

The use case you’re describing is basically the capability to to disable/inactivate assistants., which we don’t currently support. While the DB pricing is usage-based (plus a small amount for storage) Assistant has a separate pricing structure

To keep costs manageable for Assistants that are infrequently used, a workaround is to go ahead and delete them

I’m taking your feedback and shring this thread to the team in charge, so they’re aware and can take it into consideration moving forward
