Having trouble installing Canopy

Warning–I’m a non-programmer. No doubt I’m doing something very stupid. I am trying to install Pinecone and Canopy from the Windows command prompt. I run the pip routines, but then when I test the install of Canopy by typing Canopy it doesn’t recognize it. When I install Canopy, it puts in a weird folder deep inside by Python app. I have tried added this folder to the Path variable, but no luck. And the path itself seems so out of line with what the documentation tells you to expect. I am wondering if I’m doing something like running the pip routine from the wrong directory. Any suggestions?
